Have you ever heard of merriment tax? Lagos State Government says residents of Lagos spend more than N1 billion on merriment and entertainment monthly.The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftainc y Affairs, MrAdemorin Kuye, gave the figure at a news
conference organised to mark Gov.BabatundeFashola`s sixth year in office.He said the figure was derived from a research recently conducted by the Ministry
of Budgeting and Planning, which showed that the residents spent a lot of money on entertainment. Kuye lamented that the benefits of entertainment had not been fully tapped to boost revenue generation in terms of taxes. "There is merriment tax in the constitution, it is part of the rates local governments can collect. We have not fully utilised the benefit of the entertainment
industry in this state. "Over N1 billion is spent monthly in Lagos state on entertainment, we have the records to
confirm this and these people, how many of them pay tax?

ARIK AIR CREW MEMBER : Temitayo Daramola Charged to court in the UK

ARIK Air crew-member, Temitayo Daramola, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrate Court charged with possessing cocaine with a street value of £600,000, during the airline's Lagos to London flight on the evening of Monday,
May 20.Daramola was arrested by UK Border
officials on airport shuttle bus used to transport aircrew members after the plane had landed at Heathrow Airport.
"The first hearing was on May 22 at Uxbridge Magistrate Court and she was in court today via video link," one male staff disclosed. Before her case is transferred to a Crown
Court where she will face a jury trial, Daramola, 37, will make one final appearance before magistrates at the same court on June 4. The air hostess was in possession of six kg of cocaine worth about 150 million naira.

YINKA OLONODE COMMITS SUICIDE IN THE US.

On Monday April 29th, police said an unidentified man jumped from the rooftop restaurant of The Nines Hotel at 525 S.W. Morrison St, downtown Portland, USA. The man who jumped and died has been identified by the Multnomah County Medical's Examiner's Office as 34 year old Yinka Olonode.
Portland Police Bureau spokesman said Yinka jumped from the hotel building's 15th floor around 6:30pm that Monday evening. He said they do not suspect foul play but that the death is under investigation. If Yinka indeed committed suicide, nobody knows why he did it. Yinka was a model back in the day and worked briefly for Rhythm FM before relocating to the US in 2003. COUPLE HOLDS NAKED WEDDING

for wedding outfits — because they got married in the Unclád. Nick and Wendy Lowe were married at
the Wellington Naturist Club on Saturday in a "clóthing óptional" wedding, reported local newspaper The Dominion Post. About half of the 120 guests were Unclád. Both clothéd and Unclád photos were taken, and though guests were asked to dréss for dinner, the dancing portion of the
event was clóthing optiónal. Nick encouraged Wendy to embrace the "natúrism," or núdist, lifestyle six years ago.
