“Emi Ni Baller”! Check out Chidinma’s Gothic Chic Cover for MyStreetz Magazine

Burna Boy, Vector, Eva Alordiah and the late great Goldie have all looked stellar on the previous issues of  MyStreetz Magazine. This time around, KORA award winner, the baller herself Ms. Kedike, Chidinma takes the cover, looking like she really shouldn’t be messed with.
This is what Sesan Adeniji, the publisher of Mystreetz magazine, had to say about their eleventh issue:
“My belief about Chidinma‘s growth and success is that she is indirectly sharing the same mindset with Sheryl Sandberg, one of the most powerful women in America right now; the co-pilot of the biggest network of humans the world has ever seen which is the chief operating officer of Facebook,
Sheryl Sandberg in her latest book titled ‘Lean In’, a memoir-slash- ‘sort of feminist manifesto’ in which she encourages women to pursue their carrier with more rigor. According to this woman who runs a 66 million dollar tech company and sees it as not much of a challenge, Sandberg’s thesis is unique. Stripped of many caveat, it boils down to this, like she puts it -
‘the sisters are doing some of it to themselves. For a variety of reasons, they are not aiming high enough. They’re underestimating their abilities. They’re doing too much housework and child care, They’re compromising their career goals for partners and children- even when such partners and children do not exist’. ‘We hold ourselves back in ways both big and small, by lacking self-confidence by not raising our hands, and pulling back when we should be leaning in’ in her words.
Such feminist manifesto which drove female artistes such as Onyeka Onwenu, Funmi Adams, Stella Monye, to mention a few, to great heights, also drives Chidinma to achieve all the once unattainable things she now poses. This is why we are asking the question, Can you challenge Chidinma?”
This April edition will be out on news stands very soon.

UN URGES STRICT HYGIENE TO STOP THE SPREAD OF H7N9 VIRUS

The United Nations on Friday presented a list of recommendations, including a strict hygiene culture and keeping different breeds of animals apart, to try to curb the spreading of the H7N9 flu virus which has killed six people in China.
"With the virus harder to detect, good biosecurity measures become even more essential to reducing the risk of virus transmission to humans and animals," said Juan Lubroth, the chief veterinary officer of the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
Among the precautions, the FAO recommended farmers and other livestock handlers to regularly wash their hands and keep animals separate from living areas, warning that "close contact with infected animals can put people at risk".
The organisation also said people should avoid eating sick animals and that they should not be fed to other animals. It recommended keeping different types of animals and species apart and to cull infected animals "if the human threat is confirmed as animal in origin".
"It is important that all signs of illness or sudden and unexplained deaths in poultry, farmed birds, wild birds or other animals are reported to the authorities so that they can deal with them safely and help stop the virus spreading," it said.
Lubroth said that "with this virus we don't have a red flag that immediately signals an infection. This means farmers may not be aware that virus is circulating in their flock. Biosecurity and hygiene measures will help people protect themselves from virus circulating in seemingly healthy birds or other animals."
The number of confirmed human infections in China rose to 16 Friday, with four of the six fatalities in Shanghai. Officials said two new infection cases had been detected in the eastern province of Jiangsu, and a seven-year-old girl had been quarantined in Hong Kong for tests after returning from Shanghai, showing flu-like symptoms.

YAYA TOURE EXTENDS HIS CONTRACT WITH CITY

As his Manchester City squad readies itself for this Monday’s in-town derby with Manchester United, playmaking midfielder Yaya Touré has agreed to a four-year contract extension that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2017.
According to the Guardian, “the deal is based around incentives, so if enough of these are triggered [Touré] can expect to earn around the same as his current salary of around £220,000 a week.”
Rumors swirled earlier this week that the Ivorian was on his way out of City, just one year removed from helping Roberto Mancini’s side to their first Premier League title in 44 years.
”This is where I want to be,” the 30-year-old said. “When I first arrived at City, every time I went to sleep I would dream about us winning something; now it is about us being the best team in whatever competition we take part in. I will never forget how I have been treated here by the fans, the club and the owners, and nothing would give me greater pleasure than to finish my career as a Manchester City player.”
“I want to continue winning titles and trophies and continue to make history,” he continued. “I have enjoyed all of my time here and can't wait for the next chapter. This is an incredible club to be part of with fans that support a team to the end whatever the circumstances.”
He also looked ahead to the big clash with United, set to win the league at a whopping 15 points clear of City.
“Of course now it looks likely that we will not successfully defend the Premier League title and that is sad for all of us, but we can still finish second and win the FA Cup for a second time in three years and that is still an achievement for a club that won nothing for a long time,” Touré said. “We must try to finish on a high note and then start preparing to win more next season. Football is always a challenge and always a puzzle to solve and that is why we all love the game. You have to use your skill, intelligence and strength to constantly improve and that is what we at City intend to do.”

LATE  PROPHET OBADARE TO BE BURIED IN AUGUST

The late evangelist passed on in March.
The family of the late Timothy Obadare, said on Thursday in Akure, the Ondo State capital that he would be buried in August.
Abraham Obadare, one of the sons of the late cleric and a pastor, said that arrangements are still ongoing to organise a befitting burial for their father in August.
The son said that the place where their father would be buried was yet to be determined.
He, however, said that the family would not want their father to be idolised.
“There have been suggestions on where the late evangelist should be buried but we are still praying on it.
“We will definitely want him to be honoured, but not to be idolised because we do not want them to shift focus from God.
“The burial will be done in such a way that people can go to the place and pray if they wish and for the purpose of history as the case may be,” he said.
Abraham added that the burial arrangements would be communicated in due course.
Timothy Obadare, a renowned evangelist and founder of the World Soul Winning Evangelical Mission, WOSEM, died on March 21 after battling an undisclosed ailment.
