MASS WEDDING FOR 1000 WIDOWS HELD IN KANO YESTERDAY


























ONE thousand widows were Saturday handed over in marriage to their chosen husbands by the Kano State governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, as part of government’s initiative to ameliorate social decadence and strengthen marriage institution in the state.
The marriage ceremony took place at the Kano central mosque, attached to the Emir’s palace in a celebration, which attracted people from all walks of life within and outside the country

Everton to cough out €5.5m for Onazi




 Everton are expected to produce €5.5m if they are to get Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi from Serie A club Lazio.
The Toffees are reportedly close to concluding talks on the 20-year-old.
According to Mercato, Everton have already contacted Lazio regarding the Nigerian midfield international who has played nine times for Nigeria.

1.2 m UTME candidates won’t gain admission – FG







The Federal Government on Saturday said of the 1,735,720 students  that registered for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, only 520,000 will gain admission.
Addressing journalists at the Federal Government College, Suleja, Niger State, after monitoring the examination, Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai, blamed this on the low-carrying capacity of the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
She said, “The major challenge is a country like Nigeria having 1.7 million sitting for examination. The space we have is 520,000 for federal, states, private universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
