BASKET MOUTH ADDS  CUSTOM MADE INSIGNIA RIDE TO HIS GARRAGE

One of the biggest comedians to come out of Africa, Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth has just taken delivery of the 2013 Opel Insignia car. I heard from a close source to the comedian that it's a bespoke car, meaning that everything was built to Basketmouth's specification. The car is actually not sold at any showroom in the world...you can only order it. And Basketmouth's car I hear, is the only one that has been ordered in Africa. That means no one else has this car in Africa. The car sells for about 42 thousand pounds about  (10.5 million naira). Now that's big! Wow! Congrats basket mouth

TONTO DIKEH DEBUNKS RUMOUR ABOUT HER KIDNAP

Several blog sites, this morning posted a joke that Tonto Dike was kidnapped. Although it takes someone with a good sense of humor to know it was a joke.Below is the news some bloggers shared this morning:

The fast rising actress and singer was kidnapped today in her  home. The strange incident happened in the front of her gate. Eye witnesses said a black van drove and stopped right in front of Tonto Dikeh and three gun men emerged and whisked her away.
A Police near by that saw the kidnap go down stood, watched and took no actions but laughed.
After the kidnappers drove off, they left a note on the road and the police picked it up and it read:
“Dear Nigerians, we are doing you a huge favor, we have taken this drastic action to save the little we have in this country. we got information that Mrs Tonto is about to release a new song by march and we cant look and fold our arms. Mrs Tonto would be released for five thousand Naira after march 1st”
So far no one is willing to pay N5,000 to set Mrs Tonto Dikeh free

Lol!

However, the controversial actress did not find it funny. She took to twitter to debunk the rumor.

Brazil’s leader arrives Nigeria  print

Published on February 23, 2013
Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff met with Nigeria’s leader Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Saturday for talks that were expected to focus on boosting trade, notably in the energy sector.
Nigeria is Brazil’s main commercial partner in Africa, with bilateral trade soaring 500 percent from $1.5 billion in 2002 to $9 billion last year.
Brazil’s state-owned oil company Petrobras has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in Nigeria’s coal, oil, natural gas and alternative energy sectors.
Brazil is looking to expand energy ties with Nigeria, Africa’s top oil producer, to fuel its growing economy.
At a major industry conference in Abuja last month, Nigeria’s Oil Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke said that growing oil and gas production in the United States had begun affecting Nigerian exports and that the west African nation would have to look to different markets.
The fall is US exports was due in part to a rise in American shale oil production, including through new technologies like fracking, Alison-Madueke said.
Rousseff arrived in Nigeria after attending the Africa-South America summit in Equatorial Guinea, also a significant west African oil producer.

WAZOBIA FM Kano closed down

Wazobia FM
The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has suspended the Operating Licence of Globe Broadcasting and Communications Limited, owners of Wazobia FM, in Kano.
The suspension is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by the commission’s Head of Public Affairs, Awwalu Salihu. He explained in the statement that the suspension is in continuation of the steps taken by the commission following the broadcast of an episode of the programme – Sandar Girma.
It said the programme was found to have breached Section 3.9.1 of the Nigerian Broadcasting Code which prohibits the use of language encouraging crime or disorder. “Section 3.9.1, stipulates that:
language or scene likely to encourage or incite crime, or lead to disorder, shall not be broadcast.”

Salihu said the commission is of the opinion that the station used its broadcast rights in a manner that was detrimental to national interest and ordered the station to go off air with `immediate’ effect until further notice.

Pope Stepped Down Over Corruption, Gay S*x Scandals – Report

Pope Benedict XVI resigned after an internal investigation informed him about a web of blackmail, corruption and gay s*x in the Vatican, Italian media reports say.
pope5
A team of three cardinals were asked by Benedict to verify allegations of financial impropriety, cronyism and corruption exposed in the so-called VatiLeaks affair.
In December, they handed the pontiff a large portfolio of papers which was “an exact map of the mischief and the bad fish” inside the Holy See, La Repubblica said.
“It was on that day, with those papers on his desk, that Benedict XVI took the decision he had mulled over for so long,” said the centre-left newspaper.
It said its article was the first of a series, Daily Telegraph reports.
Panorama, a conservative weekly, did not speculate about the motives behind Benedict’s resignation, but its story about the contents of the confidential report was broadly similar.
Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi refused to “run after fantasies and opinions” and warned reporters: “Don’t expect comments or reb*ttals of what is being said on this issue.”
Lombardi said that the three cardinals had submitted their report privately to Pope Benedict, and it would be passed on to his successor, CatholicCulture.org reported.
The three prelates who investigated the “Vatileaks” scandal and prepared a thorough report – Cardinals Julian Herranz, Jozef Tomko, and Salvatore De Giorgi – will not be giving interviews or divulging details regarding the contents of the report, he said.
Cardinal Herranz, who chaired the commission, confirmed, “The Pope is the only person we have reported to on this question.”
La Repubblica claimed that in a lengthy report on the leaks, the cardinals had alerted the Pontiff to the existence of factions within the Roman Curia, including a powerful faction “united by s*xual orientation.”
Some members of that bloc, the cardinals reportedly said, may be vulnerable to “external influence” because of their activities. The Italian newspaper said that the report shocked Pope Benedict and contributed to his decision to resign.

Singer Paul Play Slams N500m Suit On MTN

cool lifes gist http//lifestylescosmos.blogspot.com
paulplay1In what may very well be the first major copyright infringement lawsuit in modern time in Nigeria, pop singer Paul play Dairo has gone to court for redress over the unlawful use of hit song “Angel of My Life” on MTN sponsored Project Fame.
P.M.NEWS gathered that Paul, through his lawyer, Festus Keyamo, is slamming a N500 million suit on telecoms giant MTN and Ultima Studios, the producer of the music talent hunt show, Project Fame.
According to the singer, he was out of the country and in the United States last year when the song was used without proper licensing. His Intellectual Property manager, Ayo Rotimi was also said not to have been contacted by the show producers before the song was used and broadcast.
Paul’s management, P.M.NEWS learnt contacted the two organisations and their responses were “cold and uncooperative”. This makes them to contact Festus Keyamo Chambers who has filed a lawsuit against both organisations, and they are said to be determined to see the case to its logical conclusion.
The representatives of both MTN and Ultima Studios could not be contacted as at press time.
“It is very sad to notice that even international companies in the calibre of MTN who have benefited enormously in the Nigerian economy is found wanting in unlawful exploitation of intellectual property. This is inappropriate and should be addressed,” a concerned industry analyst said

A 26-YEAR OLD BOY SPENDS $70,000 IN SURGERY TO LOOK LIKE BRITNEY SPEARS

Plastic surgery today can make you look like whoever you like, man or woman.

A young man was a great fan of Britney Spears and went under the knife to prove it. Kara Nicole Hays spent approximately $70,000 to get the look of Britney Spears the news media reported.

The 26-year-old believes that the surgery cost about $30,000, the remainder went to therapy, hormones, clothing, cosmetics and everything else he needed to make the transition.

Hays said that his face is all natural and any resemblance to Spears is a lucky coincidence. "I never had facial reconstruction to look like a celebrity," he said.

Hays, who went by the name of Kody while growing up in a staunchly conservative area of Southeastern Ohio, said Spears's music brought him comfort in difficult times.
"Britney was a person who helped me through depression," he said. "Dancing to Britney's videos also helped me lose weight and feel better about myself."

Hays told the news media that he faced a lot of toxic attitudes in his small town. He said his family had trouble accepting initially that he wanted to live his life as a girl.

They feared a backlash from narrow-minded neighbors. "It was not until we brought in doctors and psychiatrists when they finally grasped the situation," he said.

Things were not easy in school either. Hays said that although he was allowed to enter school as a girl, there was no great storybook ending.

"I was nominated to the court of honor probably as a joke, but my name had to be removed," he said. "The school officials had to personally come to my house to ask my mom and I about me being removed in the fear of controversy in the small town."
He said he played "low profile" in high school because of "death threats."

TARIBO WEST SPEAKS IN RESPONSE OF OSAZE'S TWITTER POST

Oh my God, this is mad funny and at the same time it's not because Taribo isn't happy. Osaze went on twitter and tweeted that football administrators had failed to treat former international stars right, citing late striker Rashidi Yekini, Femi Opabunmi and Taribo as examples. “Yekini, (may his soul RIP) our legend died in poverty…Femi Opabunmi lost his sight and struggling to feed now…T. West I heard not so comfortable and few others,” Osaze said.

Taribo got to read this in the papers and had to reply him. Please click read more to see his reply.

“It is embarrassing to read such comments about me in the newspapers. The last time he probably saw me was in 2008, so what does he know about me?

“Have I asked him for money before? God has been kind to me and my ministry and I have not begged anybody for money. I am doing well; I am not broke and never will be till Christ comes. In Christ, I have everything, so I am not lacking. I think he has lost track and needs to get himself together. “He should shut up and focus on his career instead of insulting his seniors all the time. He needs to respect his elders. His utterances smacks of indiscipline and unprofessionalism. He should apologise to everyone he’s been abusing on Twitter because if he continues like this, he will not go far.”

Comments onTwitter was not the best way to fight the cause of Nigeria’s ex-footballers. “If he is fighting for ex-players, then that is not how to go about it. He should come home and fight those who are not helping the footballers.

“How many ex-footballers has he helped? How can he stay in England and fight for a cause in Nigeria? He should join his seniors and fight for their cause because his approach has no foundation,”

QUACK DOCTOR  ARRESTED AFTER PERFORMING A FAILED BUTTOCKS, HIPS AND BREAST ENLARGEMENT

All a woman wanted was a nicer butt, but she died.

A South Florida woman posing as a doctor was arrested and charged in the death of a woman who died after authorities said her butt was pumped with unknown toxic substances during surgery to enlarge her butt.

Shatarka Nuby, a 31-year-old mom, gave a woman known as "Dutchess" hundreds of dollars to come to her home and inject her buttocks, hips, thighs and breasts with an unknown substance. The Dutchess, whose real name is Oneal Morris, sometimes wore scrubs and a stethoscope. She supposedly sealed her with with glue, and cotton balls, according to sheriff's deputies in Broward County.

Nuby told friends that the injections became hard and hot and her skin turned black. She wrote a letter to the Department of Health investigators before her death in Tallahassee. An assistant medical examiner said she suffered "a massive migration of systemic silicone", according to
a sheriff's office.

Authorities said Nuby was one of several victims who were looking towards 32 year old, Morris for cosmetic procedures. Some victims had complications and infections after the injections, including bathroom caulk, cement, Super Glue, Fix-a-Flat and mineral oil into the bodies of her victims, officials said.

Morris was arrested in her mother’s home in South Florida and charged with murder. Her lawyer, Michael Mirer, declined to comment.

Joseph Benjamin’s Stolen Car Recovered

Joseph Benjamin
Joseph Benjamin
Nollywood actor Joseph Benjamin who lost his car to armed robbers last Sunday evening has applauded his insurance company for helping to recover the car.
The actor was in Aberdeen, Scotland, for the screening of his breakthrough movie, “Tango With Me” when his 2007 Toyota Camry driven by a friend was snatched around Magodo, Lagos.
According to Benjamin, the incident happened around 7pm. “I had just returned to London from Aberdeen for a photo shoot when my friend called and was hysterical on the phone. She said my car had been snatched around Magodo area. She was crying her heart out so I had to calm her down and assured her that there was no problem.
“Immediately, I called my insurance company, and informed them of the theft. They told me not to panic that the car would be recovered in no time. Though, I did not doubt them, I was tempted to broadcast the news on Blackberry just in case anybody had a clue. I also put my London phone numbers if anybody had information that could lead to the recovery of the car.”
“I was shocked when about 15minutes later, a staff of my insurance company called me to say the car had been found in Ipaja area of Lagos, adding that it has been demobilised. I didn’t believe it until my friend went to confirm that it was indeed true.”
Social media networks have proven to be a tool for dispersing information quickly, a tool which was believed to have helped in the quick recovery of the star actor’s car.

UNILAG remains MAULAG – Ministry

UNILAG main entrance
The Federal Ministry of Education has refuted reports that President Goodluck Jonathan had made a U-turn on the change of name of the University of Lagos.
It said on Friday that it had yet to receive any categorical statement from the Federal Government on such a decision.
Reports   had quoted the new Chairman of the Governing Council, University of Lagos, Prof. Jerry Gana, as saying President Goodluck Jonathan had changed his mind about renaming the institution after the late Chief Moshood Abiola.
But the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Olu Lipede, told our correspondent in Abuja on Friday that the President had yet to issue any statement on the matter, noting that the position of the government about the name change remains.
He said, “The reports that the government has made a U-turn on the renaming of UNILAG are untrue and misleading; what Prof. Jerry Gana said was that the President was observing the rule of law by not forcing his decision to change the name of the university on the people, but followed the due process by allowing the court to decide the matter.
“The President has not issued any categorical statement on the matter and the ministry of education has not received any directive either; so, the directive of the President on the school remains the same.”

Cardinal Arinze’s chance of becoming next pope Bleak

Cardinal ArinzeWhen Benedict XV1 tendered his letter of retirement penultimate week, the entire Catholic kingdom was in frenzy. The appropriate authorities, we were told swung into action to have another clergyman takes the mantle of leadership so as not to leave the post vacant.
One of the top echelon in the highly sacred number one position in the Vatican City, Rome, Cardinal Francis Arinze, a Nigeria was said to be eligible for the position. But contrary to presumptions, Nigeria’s Cardinal Francis, may after all not be eligible to vote or be voted for when the College of Cardinals converge at the Vatican to elect a new Pope to replace Pope Benedict XV1. This is because he is over 80 years old.
Some western media had listed Arinze as a top contender in speculative stories on the prospects of a black Pope emerging. “Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana and Cardinal Francis Arinze of Nigeria are in the frame to become the first ever-black pope, certainly in the modern era,” reports the British Telegraph newspaper a few days ago.
Under the terms put in place by Pope Paul VI, cardinals who had reached the age of 80 before the conclave opens had no vote in Papal elections.
Again, the current rules for the election of the Roman Pontiff; those put in place by Pope John Paul II on February 22, 1996, state that “cardinals who have reached the age of 80 before the day the Seat becomes vacant do not have a vote.”
Further checks in Wikipedia, a respected online encyclopaedia showed that cardinal Arinze was among the Cardinals listed as having reached the age of 80 and, as a result, lost the right to participate in a conclave.
Cardinal Arinze was born on November 1, 1932. He was 80 last year and has thus lost his right to participate in a conclave because of age.
When asked to comment on the eligibility of Cardinal Arinze, Monsignor Gabriel Osu who heads the communication department of the Lagos Catholic Archdiocese said: “Well, I am certain of Okogie and I am certain of Onaiyekan. Arinze I am not too certain. His age is 80 plus. What I have said is subject to correction. But I know that Okogie and Onaiyekan are within the range. These are the two. Arinze, being 80 plus, I doubt. I am subject to correction, but I doubt.”
Arinze has been Cardinal since May 25, 1985. He is the Cardinal Bishop of Velletri-Segni – succeeding Joseph Ratzinger, who became Pope Benedict XVI. He is also the Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
The cardinal was one of the principal advisors to Pope John Paul II, and was considered papabile before the 2005 papal conclave, which elected Pope Benedict XV1.
With Arinze most likely out, two other Nigerian Cardinals are still in the race. They are Cardinal John Onaiyekan who is 69 and Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie who is 76.
Onaiyekan was elevated to the post of Cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI in a Consistory on 24 November 2012. As Cardinal-Priest, he was assigned the titular church of San Saturnino. Onaiyekan was born on January 29, 1944 in Kabba, Kogi State.
Okogie was born on 16 June, 1936 in Lagos. He was proclaimed Cardinal by Pope John Paul II in the consistory of 21 October 2003, and holds the title of Cardinal Priest of Santa Maria del Monte Carmelo a Mostacciano (Blessed Virgin Mary of Mt. Carmel of Mostacciano).

"I DIED AND WOKE UP DURING MY PERIOD OF AILMENT " DAME PATIENCE JONATHAN

First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, Sunday, said she died and woke up during the period of  her ailment which necessitated her absence from the country for almost three months.
In a thanksgiving service at the state House chapel in Abuja, the first lady said prayers offered by  Nigerians sustained her while some people who had taken her for dead had began selling her properties.
According to her, she underwent seven surgery operations within one month and the doctors had given up hope on her survival.
She said: “I remember when Chief  Obasanjo was the President of the country, I was close to his late wife, Stella. We worshiped together in this chapel.
“It was a painful moment for me that time when she died and her corpse was brought here.
“That was how my corpse would have been brought here. It was not an easy experience for me. I actually died, I passed out for more than a week. My intestine and tummy were opened.

“I am not Lazarus but my experience was similar to his. My doctors said all hope was lost.
“A black doctor in London who is with us in this service was flown in when the situation became critical. It was God himself in His infinite mercy  that said I will return to Nigeria. God woke me up after seven days.
“I know that some people somehow leaked the information that  I was dead.  They are people that I trust and rely on; to them, I was dead and I would never return to the country alive. Some of them even sold my things off.
“I won’t say everything here. It is the Lord’s doing that I returned alive. When God says yes, nobody can say no.
“People are always afraid of operation (surgery) but in my own case, while my travail lasted, I was begging for it (surgery) after the third operation because I was going to the theatre everyday.
“It was God who saw me through. I did eight or nine operations within one month. It was not an easy one.

Kim Kardashian was in Lagos on Sunday 17th February 2013 for Darey‘s “Love Like a Movie” event. The event was spectacular – it definitely upped the standard of events staged in Nigeria in terms of theatrics. The stage, lighting, music and dramatic circus arts took things to the next level.
As everyone knows, Kim was one of the major attractions of the event. BN met the reality star and we have to say she was exceptionally sweet and courteous. Kim was clad in a black leather dress which hid her baby bump paired with high-heeled black sandals.
Check out photos of Kim at the event and look out for many more photos from “Love Like a Movie” on BN.

He tagged it ‘Memories of my loving wife’. He moved a step further by politely asking Prezzo to “leave my precious family to grieve in peace, you have caused enough hurt and pain already”

And then he countered a new report that surfaced online Late Friday where it was alleged that Goldie was into drugs and died of drugs.
He said “Goldie never used drugs in the past 10 years and I was as close as you could get”
Meanwhile, fans on facebook were taken surprise when they saw the wedding pictures, many of them did not believe that Goldie was married! – especially after her love drama with Prezzo, her Kenyan lover and housemate in the Big brother Africa Game 2012.
You will recall that Prezzo wrote a very emotional tribute on Friday in honour of the late singer. Media reports claim that he had planned to propose to Goldie on Valentine’s day…
Oh by the way, a close source and friend of Andrew Harvey reliably told us that “Andrew is really mad about Prezzo’s appearance and wants to show the world that he matters nowthat’s why he is posting the pictures
Aggrieved Andrew not only shared the intimate pictures on Facebook, but also on Goldie’s twitter handle, and even went as far as engaging with several curious fan, saying “For those who doubt the wedding go to ikoyi registry and ask for copy of certifcate No 1000/05″

In her biography,Goldie was born Susan Adebimpe Filani and she is from Ekiti state, She studied and lived in the UK for some years before she returned to Nigeria to focus on her music career. We would update you as more details unfold.

IN THE BEGINNING: THE GENESIS OF UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA NSUKKA
Sir Francis Akanu ibiam(1963) had the following to say to the criticisms that accrued about the existence of the University of Nigeria especially in a place called Nsukka.

I remember very well said sir francis Akanu Ibiam(1963) when the news came that there was going to be an university of Nigeria in a location known as nsukka. the choice of Nsukka as a location
Was highly controversial. the designation of the University of Nigeria was catchy and intriguing some people asked why call it the University of Nigeria?, was there to be no other university in this vast country of ours? Other people wanted to know where Nsukka was. Anyhow such a new and unheard name ! if there must be a University of Nigeria why not have it established at Enugu, or Onitsha or Aba or calabar the old and familiar places. Many other people exclaimed imagine B.A,B.sc  Nsukka was the common remark. Many other citizens meaningfully or otherwise demanded to know where the money would come from to meet the acceptably expensive[MR1]  cost of the highest order of institution of learning .
1960/1961 SESSION; THE GENESIS
The campus could boast of very few houses which were hurriedly put up to beat the deadline  for admitting the first year students who started their studies on October 17th 1960 ten days after the official opening  and laying of foundation stone of the university’s early building by princess Alexandria of kent, the queen Elizabeth II representative at the independence ceremony (obiechina 1978:2) the poor infrastructure did not at all indicate that the founding fathers did not know that the school needed solid buildings such that were in Ibadan and Ife because the money was not there, the founding fathers decided to set up temporary building s rather than, in words of prof.Frank Ndili “sacrifice the idea of starting the university” (morka et al,1982)
The pioneer students 220 of them were still getting to know one another . the average student was older between 28 and 30 years of age. They had less money to spend ,spent less time on social activities like clubbing , partying and they had great sense of responsibility than his counterpart today. Actually the first hostel was Okpara, it was called Block one then,  Male and female students stayed together in a hall.   The ground floor of the hall was the dinning section with a kitchenette at one end of it. Female students occupied the first floor, male students stayed on the second floor  and  there was a separating gate before the flight of stairs in-between the floors. The two sexes all came down to the dinning to have their meal and go off to lectures .
When the second hall of residence, Balewa (block two) was ready, the male students moved into it . the dinning sections in both halls became common rooms equipped with television sets and gaming facilities .
During this period,220 students in balewa and okpara halls were accommodated two persons to a room. Life then was spacious full of solo trips to breezy and hilly sides for sober reflections. however the hostel blocks lacked certain facilities
There were no space for liners; no disposal sink for cleaners to empty dirty water; no utility rooms for storage of cleaning materials; no drainage in the washrooms for excess water blown in by rain or used by the cleaners for scrubbing the floors.
In the early 1960’s, ther was no electricity or pipe borne water. Therefore, the pioneers students and even lecturers had to use lanterns and fetch water water from outside the campus. In the two hostels, study tables were in adedquate and there was no wall mirrors.

IS GOLDIE REALLY DEAD:     how true is this rumour

I honestly can not believe I am typing this now!
I’m in such shock, my jaw dropped when I saw this a few moments ago on Twitter. And I’m hoping it’s an awful hoax.
But it seems singer Goldie Harvey, who was an artiste on Kennis’ Music label and represented Nigeria at the Big Brother Star Game has died.
According to Linda Ikeji, she received a call from her best friend Denrele Edun, who told her Goldie died a few minutes ago in his arms at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island.
In what can only be described as a tragic twist Goldie, who was at this weekens’ Grammy awards just returned from the US today and something went horribly wrong. She passed away about an hour ago at Reddington Hospital VI.
This is the worst news ever! My heart goes out to Goldie’s family and all those who loved her. I can not believe this. It is so tragic. Goldie was 28 years old, she had a few projects in the works including a reality TV show with best friend Denrele Edu
Rest In Peace…Goldie, RIP…The worst news…The absolute worst

Chris Brown and Drake: Suing Each Other Over NYC Nightclub Brawl!

Chris Brown and Drake are involved in another brawl ... this time legally.
They're suing one another over their nightclub fight last year, when the music stars and their posses got into an all-out MELEE at W.i.P. nightclub in NYC.

How does that work, exactly? Well, a French model named Romain Julien is filing suit against Brown, Drake and the club for injuries he says he sustained.
In response, both Drake and Chris Brown have filed legal documents basically denying blame for what happened and pointing the guilty finger at the other.
No one knows exactly what happened in the Chris Brown-Drake fight, but they each claim they were not to blame for it and say they should not pay damages.
Each is asking a judge to formally pin blame on the other guy.
Chris and Drake have both been linked to Rihanna, and it is widely believed she played an indirect role in the bottle-throwing insanity that broke out.
In addition to tables and broken glass, rumors have been flying about what started it, but it's hard to say for sure when neither has spoken out about it.
This is the first time they've gone after each other in court.
Interestingly, NBA star Tony Parker is also suing W.i.P. for the eye injury he sustained in the fight, claiming the club was negligent by letting that thug inside.
Parker says Brown's history of violence with Rihanna, Frank Ocean and a Good Morning America window prove W.i.P. should have known better.
