LEAD CITY LAW PROGRAMME DECLARED ILLEGAL BY THE APPEAL COURT.

The Court of Appeal on Wednesday ruled that Lead City University, an Ibadan-based private university, had
been running its law programme illegally. The three-man panel of judges, in a judgement that lasted about three
hours, upturned an earlier decision of an Oyo State High Court which declared illegal the invalidation of the programme by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The lower court's judgement was based on a suit filed by a first class graduate of law in the university, Segun Alli, accusing the NUC of denying him the
right to proceed to the law school after completing his degree programme in the private university.
Giving the lead judgment, which was unanimously adopted by two other justices, Chidi Uwa upheld the appeal of
the NUC, declaring that the university had been operating its law programme without the required accreditation.
The court also held that Mr. Alli lacked the locus standi to initiate the suit in the first place. It held that the matter
under contention was between NUC and the Lead City University over compliance with directives to set up a
valid Law Faculty. The Appeal Court said the University
had failed to obtain and meet the requirements of the NUC and National Council of Legal Education before
graduating students for the same course. Justice Uwa added that Lead City University had admitted students to
study law in the university on 22nd of May 2005 whereas it got a license to operate on 9th June, 2005. Wondering how the university could be running programmes before it came to existence, Mr. Uwa said the NUC only approved the setting up of a law faculty at the university in 2008, while the university graduated their first law students in 2009, describing same as totally illegal.

HOW TO MEET CUTE GUYS AND LADIES DURING SUMMER.

Just because school is over doesn't mean you have to stop meeting cute guys every day. If you hit the right spots and know how to work a hot summer outfit you can meet plenty of beaus. Whether you're back home, working, or staying at school over the summer, you can meet cute guys during the next few months by following these 6 tips.

Go for evening walks

Don't be down in the dumps because you're bored at home. Your town is probably full of hotties, and you don't even know it. Even if you don't live in a huge, bustling town, young college-age guys are always taking summer trips—and one of their stops may just be where you live. Go for walks sometimes, you just might meet some cute guys.

Make the most of the outdoor party scene.

Go to every available cook-out, birthday parties, reunions, events in town, backyard get-together, weekend BBQ – the list goes on. Summer is prime time for this sort of family, friend, and neighbourhood event. If you're invited, go. Make an appearance in your cute new summer dress or shorts-and-wedges outfit; you never know who you'll meet. That annoying neighbour next door may actually have a cute brother. Or cousin. Take her up on that offer for drinks or dinner with her family next time. Just in case.

If you're staying at school

First of all, keep your eyes out for athletes – they're crawling on university campuses during the summer. Secondly, there might be fewer guys around, but there are fewer girls, too – so if you're looking at ratios, the game's still on.

Go where the sports are.

Hit up the tennis and basketball courts, the golf course, or the fitness club in your area. Dudes love waking up early, putting on a polo (it's a golf course rule to dress up a little). Sports are the perfect make-me-feel-like-a-hotshot guy activities. What could be a better time to do a little flirting than when he's feeling confident and strong and is in his best well-dressed gear? It doesn't matter if you've never picked up a club (or racquet) before either—guys love to teach. When you get to the clubhouse to get balls, ask about a lesson. Nine times out of 10 you'll get a 22 year-old hottie who's home for the summer to coach. I won't say I told you so. No golfing greens or athletic clubs? There'll be sporty boys at the gym, too.

Work at the local hotspot.

You know those town favorites that turn into meeting grounds during the summer months? Maybe it's the mall or a cafe These are the hangouts for locals, and people are generally in a feel-good, chatty mood when they stop by. Get hired at one of those and you'll be sure to exchange a few numbers. Give a smile to any cutie you serve; he might come back just for a chat (hopefully he leaves a tip)! This works both ways, too – visit these local places to see what cuties are working there this summer.
It might not be a "hotspot," but an outdoorsy or workout-related store will also do wonders. Try an active apparel store. We can guarantee that more than one 20-something guy will walk through those doors.

Find everyone's weekend go-to.

In Lagos, some of these go-to spots are the movies, a mall. Find out the equivalent of this in your city. You want a spot where, on sunny weekend days, everyone gathers to hang out, have mini parties, etc. Grab a few friends, go to a go-to spot. Pick a spot near your next guy target or let him come to you. If you don't get a number, at least you'll enjoy the sunshine! Don't switch up your location every weekend, though (sure, every once in a while is OK). Maybe that guy who spent all afternoon eyeing you will go back next weekend hoping you'll be there – so you better be!

There are so many other ways and places to meet cute guys than the ones we've listed here. Wherever you are this summer, the most important first step is to leave your house or apartment. You'll never meet a man if you're just watching movies alone, waiting for him to arrive!

PS: guys could also take a cue from here too *winks*

AN IDEAL DATE

This is what a girl has to say about her date. She said that
The type of guy that she likes is the sweet, honest, funny type. Looks aren't important but when a guy looks
good then that's just a nice extra. My boyfriend has all of those things, and I hope that I can get my dream date
with him soon! My ideal date would be: going out together, have some drinks and some laughs, then followed by a
romantic walk on the beach and afterwards just kiss and cuddle him. Well. In an ideal situation the concept of an ideal date differs from one individual to the other. In Nigeria, a lady's ideal date can be going to the cinema with her boyfriend on a popcorn wednesday and see a movie together, another person may have a contrasting view of an ideal date , an ideal date for another person can be going to Kentucky fried chicken , Mr Biggs , tantalizers or other Restaurants to have a nice time with their lovers. My brother told me that his dream date is one that will be memorable , he said he will like a yatch cruise, I laughed . A friend of mine told me that he met a guy and a girl in a shop , he assumed they were lovers. The guy placed an order for dryfish , garri ,sugar + pure water. This they ate and had a nice time out . This can be an ideal date for the intending lovers. So I concluded that the idea of an ideal date is dependent on the pocket of an individual.

A MIDDLE AGED MAN SLUMPS AND DIES AFTER DRINKING "PARAGA"

There was confusion at Apata-Ganga area of Ibadan after a 32-year-old man, Taiwo Saidi, aka Akinigai, slumped and died shortly after drinking an alcoholic mixture, popularly called paraga. It was gathered that the tragedy struck at a popular drinking joint at Ago-Igbira, Adifase area, Apata-Ganga at about 10.30am on
Saturday. This young man must probably be fasting because from his name Taiwo Saidi, he probably should be a muslim . Drinking dry gin (paraga) in the morning during fasting is really dangerous because dry gin (paraga) contains above 75% of alcohol ,it is also known as rectified spirit. We pray his gentle soul rest in peace.
